The Culver Hotel is a
Culver City "Landmark" and listed on the National
Register of History. The Culver Hotel, which was built on the site
of Culver City's first movie theatre, seemed destined from the
start to be intertwined with the land of film and entertainment.
This hotel has led a colorful life under several owners, including
the legendary John Wayne, since it was born in 1924. Reborn in
1998, it is the youngest, brightest septuagenarian hotel around.
Located just 10 - 20 minutes from LAX Airport, Santa Monica,
Beverly Hills, Century City, Venice Beach, Downtown Los Angeles,
UCLA, USC, and the L.A. Convention Center. Once the part-time home
of such stars as Ronald Regan, Clark Gable, Joan Crawford, and
Greta Garbo, the Culver Hotel is perhaps best remembered as the
home of 120 little Munchkins when, in 1938, they filmed "The
Wizard of Oz" at the Culver Studios next door. In 1998, some
of the few remaining Munchkins had a memorable reunion at the
Culver Hotel. The Culver Hotel itself is a star. In the midst of
thriving downtown Culver City, the beloved landmark has appeared
on TV and in several movies, recently in "The last Action
Hero" and TV's "Part of Five". The driving force
behind the birth of this new "skyscraper" was Harry
Culver, the founder of Culver City. Both his hotel and his city
are legacies of which Harry would be deservedly proud.
Each
of the 46 rooms at the Culver Hotel is furnished differently, with
gracious French-style antique furniture, tasteful artwork, and
special loving care. All standard rooms also have 27"TV and
individual climate control. You will sleep in tranquillity in one
of the pleasant and spacious rooms. Each of the meticulous,
attractive bathrooms are tiled in marble and designed for
convenience. A generous amenities package provides luxuries and
necessities.
The elegant
European-style lobby is the perfect spot for receptions, parties,
and weddings. Enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres and large-screen
TV in the Lobby Lounge, from 5pm till 11pm. The Scarlet Restaurant
offers a charming atmosphere, varied menu and gracious service.
Try the lunch buffet and soup & salad bar Monday through
Friday. From 7am - 10pm, room service is available for those
guests who desire to dine in their guestroom. The cozy full
service bar is the perfect place to wind down after a busy day.
